El Paisano Ranch in Jim Wells County
was established in 1835 in South Texas,
and is still in operation today by the same family.
History

The Lone Star State has many historic ranches that built and shaped our great state, but only a few predate the 1836 Republic of Texas.  One of the oldest is El Paisano Ranch in Jim Wells County, Texas.  El Paisano Ranch was formed from the Paisano Land Grant of 1830, and was officially established in 1835.  It sits in what was then known as the Nueces Strip; a hostile disputed region between the Rio Grande and Nueces River. Lots of great stories and Texas History flowed across this area, and through El Paisano Ranch.

About El Paisano

Our website is still a work in progress.  We are ranchers, not web developers.  We still grow crops and raise animals, but growing a web presence and raising our Twitter profile is new to us.  El Paisano Ranch has been in the same family since 1830, but ranching and farming has changed over the last 186 years, and so has Texas.  Learn more about who we are, what we are doing, and our social media presence.  Also, find out what's in store for the next 186 years at El Paisano Ranch. We are officially, older than Texas…
